The Higher Trapp Country House Hotel [Lavender Hotels], Burnley, Lancashire - Wedding Photography.

My very first same-sex wedding.

When Ash & Tony asked me to capture their wedding day, I was a little hesitant as I had never documented a same-sex wedding before. They had such an awesome energy about them that I decided to step out of my comfort zone & agreed to photograph their special day (so glad that I did).

Ash & Tony decided to have an intimate ceremony & celebrated their love for one another with a small group of family & friends that took place at the lovely Higher Trapp Country House Hotel [Lavender Hotels], located in Burnley, Lancashire...this venue provided a stunning backdrop for the ceremony.

I spent a lot of time trying to work out what the best approach to photographing a same-sex wedding is, & actually felt it should be captured in exactly the same way any other wedding is...I mean the format of the day was the same, so the photography element should be too, right.

I documented Ash & Tony's day with my trusty Fuji X-E3 & added my 23mm & 50mm prime lenses to the mix, which worked like a dream...& really emphasises my photography style.

I enjoy creating memories where there is more than one element to the image...this works particularly well during the cocktail hour, where I can mingle & go unnoticed, which allows me to focus on the emotions of the guests...see if you can spot the best-man (I am pretty sure he could be an Alan Carr lookalike).

I should never have been worried about photographing Ash & Tony's wedding, I am very pleased with the results & think the images are gorgeous - here's some of my favourites.

Thank you so much for having me...I cannot wait for my next same-sex wedding.

Tony
